Testimony

Blessing and Greetings! Right after the live recording of this last project [“Meet Us Here”], I was welcomed into out.of.nothing. Since then, I have helped raise the praise of God with these extremely gifted musicians. I feel blessed to add what I can to the group with the gifts that God has given me. Whether it is on horn or on guitar, praising God is the only reason for me to play. During my musical journey, I have been given the honor to play with the members of out.of.nothing as well as other professional musicians in both live performances and in studio situations.

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and Winslow, Arizona with music being a driving force in my life. I started out playing trumpet, but was soon called into the low brass world. I excelled in the low brass realm. While still on horn, I started playing guitar in the middle school jazz band and bass guitar in the high school jazz band. Musically, I was influenced by everything on the radio and sounds from my childhood: the Native American rhythms of Arizona, fusion, metal, rock, country, jazz, classical, Latin, African, etc. After high school, I played in a few rock bands, but took a musical hiatus around 1984, when God sent me the big soul-searching message…“WAKE UP!” So, I woke up to the reality of God, to the gift of Jesus Christ, and the things that really matter in this life. Since then, I have focused my life on serving Jesus Christ with my whole heart and every gift that he has given me.

In the early 1990’s, I was reacquainted with Blane, David and Juliana Bethesda Community Church in the music department. I had met Blane and David in a youth group at another church in our early teens and I was in the high school band with Juliana. I can say very honestly that I have some talented friends, which include Bubba, Joe and Tyrone. They are players of exceptional quality and who love Jesus. Playing with out.of.nothing has given me the opportunity to grow as a musician as well as minister the gospel of Jesus Christ both locally and internationally.

Currently, I am blessed with a career in law enforcement; blessed with a beautiful wife; and blessed with the privilege to present myself as God’s mirror of Jesus to my community. Whether it’s in the music I play, or the words from my mouth, it is and always will be “all about Jesus”.
